Plum Crumble – Dairy Free.

I love this time of year when all the fruits are ready to pick, I choose crumble over pie anyday of the week! This is a straightforward simple crumble, you can mess with the crumble by adding oats or different sugars but my husband likes things simple! Dairy free as my grandson with a dairy and soya allergy is bound to be round. Doesn’t get much simpler than this!


You will need; (serves 4-6)

800g plums, stoned and halved.

50g granulated sugar

3 tablespoons water ( if you like less juice reduce to 2.)

For the crumble ( I like a lot of crumble, you could easily half this amount and still have enough!)

450g plain flour

200g dairy free block marg ( I use stork, if dairy isn’t an issue you can use regular butter)

90g granulated sugar.


Turn oven on to heat up (180°C ,fan 160°C/350°F/Gas 4).

Put the plums into a baking dish sprinkle over the sugar and water.

Make the crumble by putting the flour into a large bowl, add the block marg (cubed). Rub into flour until it is evenly distributed but not too fine or the crumble will be heavy.

Add the sugar to the crumble mix and stir through. Sprinkle mix over the plums in the baking dish but don’t press it down.


Put it in the oven to bake for 45mins or until plums are soft and topping is golden brown.

Serve hot or cold with dairy free custard (or the usual cream/icecream/yohurt if your not dairy free).

Doesn’t get much easier than that!
